Ages 7-9
Day 1
Sketching is the first step to any masterpiece! These artists learned how to slip and score clay together to create their own flying creatures based on planned sketches. We discussed what happened when the clay goes into a kiln.
Day 2
Today is Tie Dye! Techniques are shown and artists rubberband and dye their shirts.
Day 3
The bisqueware has returned and its time to discuss underglaze and clear gloss glaze! I showed my personal ceramic work to show how the bottoms need to be clear of gloss glaze and how you can see your underglaze once it’s fired again.
Day 4
These artists created their own paper mache orbs. They blew up balloons, taped them to bases to stay still, and used watered down glue to layer tissue paper.
Day 5
The paper mache is dry and it is time to pop the balloons! These students turned their orbs into eggs, nests, or homes for their ceramic creatures.
