Ages 4-6
Day 1
Sketching is the first step to any masterpiece! These artists learned how to slip and score clay together to create their own flying creatures based on planned sketches. We discussed what happened when the clay goes into a kiln.
Day 2:
Today is Tie Dye! Techniques are shown and artists rubberband and dye their shirts.
Day 3
The bisqueware has returned and its time to discuss underglaze and clear gloss glaze! I showed my personal ceramic work to show how the bottoms need to be clear of gloss glaze and how you can see your underglaze once it’s fired again.
Day 4
While the pieces were being fired, these artists learned about texture and how to create it with unconventional painting tools. They used cardboard tubes, pizza cutters, toothbrushes, legos, etc.
Day 5
Collages were made out of the first project sketches and construction paper.
A photo area was set up so the students could become photographers of their sculptures.
